Weeping Tiles and Foundation Membrane

A home may encounter structural problems caused by water, that may leave it unfit for living when the foundation is no longer in good shape. Therefore it is important that you check frequently for basic structural issues like bowing, bulging and cracking in your foundation. A minor troubled region can quickly escalate into a severe problem, resulting in not only hassles but a potentially enormous expense.

Weeping tiles and foundation membrane processes:

Base Excavation:

This procedure starts by digging down to the base of the home. In an attempt to maintain the base, the foundation-level must be reached by the excavation so the drainage may be analyzed as well as the status of the supporting ground can be assessed. The foundation is inspected, and should be power washed so that any materials that are loose can be removed prior to additional work.

This is the stage where weeping tile can be inspected to determine if it is good condition – is it able to properly drain water away from the house? Or is the weeping tile damaged, allowing runoff water to pool and possibly penetrate the foundation of the house.

Parge & Repair:

This measure is determined by the status of the damage to the the foundation. Any existing damage should be repaired in place. After fixing, two coatings of parging ought to be put on the foundation, as it helps in damp-proofing and further increases the effectiveness of the follow-up waterproofing layers.

Set up Waterproof Membrane:

The membrane of Blueskin (or equivalent) waterproof material ensures a long-lasting and water proof shield against future inflows. This membrane is typically  rubber asphalt membrane which is laminated to a polyethylene film.
